Addison loves to climb our stairs, so much so that when we go down in the basement, there isn't much time to relax - as we are constantly having to retrieve her from the steps. Our steps are not covered in carpet, so it would be a pretty rough fall if she would happen to lose her balance, not that any fall would be good, but a fall on hardwood covered steps wouldn't be as soft as it would be if they were covered with carpet. Soon enough she'll be able to traverse the steps without us having to worry, but as for right now, she seems to think it's funny that we are following just behind her when she heads for the steps.
If you saw above, the title to this web page has changed to now include "Lisa." "Adventures with Addison and Lisa." OK, so here's the story: Jen and I have officially become parents again!!! It shocked us too, we weren't expecting things to happen this quickly! Pictures will be coming soon!
For those of you that don't know, you could say that Jen and I have officially adopted again. However, this one has a little bit different twist. Lisa is from Germany. She will be 17 years old sometime this fall, I'm not sure of her actually birth date, I didn't look that close at the paperwork.
I hope that some of you are reading this with a "Shock and Aw!" expression - cause then I accomplished what I set out to do. The story continues, and here's the rest of the story . . . Lisa is a foreign exchange student, and is attending the High School here in Tracy, and will be living with Jen, Addison, and myself until sometime next June. She came to town in late August, and her first placement didn't work out, so once school started and an email went out saying that Lisa needed a good family to become part of, it didn't take long for Jen to email me, and ask if it would be Ok? So to keep a long story a little shorter, we are now the proud host parents of a soon to be 17 year old high school senior. Don't worry, I'm still in a little "Shock and Aw" myself, but it has been wonderful!
Lisa's first night with us was last Friday, and by Saturday afternoon Addison was starting to warm up to her. It was amazing to see, as I thought that it might take about a week, but by Sunday Addison was letting Lisa hold her and get close to her toys (which Addison doesn't just let anyone do). I think it might have had something to do with the Skittles that Lisa was sharing with her, but regardless it was fun to see.
Pictures coming soon!
