I was going to try write something different on here than what we wrote for the myadoptionwebstie, however, it’s 2:00 am here already; we’ve been in China for a little over 4 hours now, and we’re ready to try get some sleep; quite frankly I don’t have what it takes at this point to be unique enough to write too much, especially anything different than what we wrote for Addison’s myadoption site. Later in our trip I’ll try to be more creative!
United Airlines trying to make due for lunch during our lay-over.
Beijing Airport - just made it through customs!
Beijing weather forecast for our arrival - Light snow, Mist, 21 degrees F. Supposed to arrive at 4:30 pm, note time listed above - 9:21 pm, which turned out to be closer to 10:00 pm.
I told Jen that maybe we could try sleep until about 9:00, but if any of you know her, that isn’t going to happen. We don’t have anything scheduled until 10:00, but I’m sure that we’ll be up plenty early anyway!
The trip over here went rather smoothly except for the 6 ½ hour delay that we had in Chicago, which really didn’t cause much stress because we didn’t have any control over it anyway. We were able to get to know the other couples that we are traveling with a little better with so much time to sit and visit. They all seem very nice and it will fun to get to know them better as Addison get older. She now has a Chinese extended family – pretty cool, even though none of them are Chinese themselves – there daughters will be. As a matter of fact all six girls that are being adopted with our group are at the same orphanage as we sit in Beijing waiting to go get them. I’m thinking and hoping that they will all become very close as they get older; I’m thinking they all may consider each other sisters – time will tell! Four of the families do live quite a distance from Minnesota, but that way we’ll have a reason to do some traveling, and I’ve always wanted to see Nashville or visit Kentucky! One family that we are here with is from the southeastern part of Wisconsin, within driving distance if and when we get the chance to visit them someday or visa versa.
